CSX Covid19 Update Mar 25 2020
|
To Our Valued Customer,
As a growing number of states implement restrictions on business activity in response to the COVID-19 pandemic, I want to reassure you that these directives do not apply to rail operations and should not impact CSX’s service to your facilities. The U.S. Department of Homeland Security memorandum of March 19 specifically identifies railroad employees as “essential critical infrastructure workers” in an industry with “a special responsibility in these times to continue operations.”
Should one or more of your facilities come under a COVID-19 containment or curfew order, CSX crews have been provided with documentation identifying their status as critical infrastructure workers with permission to perform their jobs. If you have any specific questions concerning your shipments or service to your facilities, please contact the Customer Solutions team at 1-877-ShipCSX (1-877-744-7279). You can also access our convenient online ShipCSX portal to ship or trace your freight 24 hours a day, seven days a week at www.shipcsx.com.
I also want to reiterate that we are taking comprehensive measures to safeguard our workers and our facilities, so that we can continue to provide normal operations and timely service. As of today, CSX has no confirmed case of any employee with the virus. You can help us maintain efficient operations by informing us as soon as possible should your transportation needs change or require service adjustments. Our Sales and Marketing teams will work with you to ensure your supply chain continues to operate efficiently.
The COVID-19 crisis is challenging all of us to keep the economy moving. The good news is that the fluidity of our operations and strong service performance leading into the crisis have given us the flexibility, capacity and resources to respond quickly and effectively.
Please feel free to contact me directly at Mark_Wallace@csx.com if you have any questions about your service during this period. I’m personally available and committed to help ensure CSX effectively supports your business needs.
Thank you for working with us to respond effectively during this critical time. Please remain safe and know that we are committed to supporting your business in whatever way we can.
Sincerely,
Mark Wallace
